Pushing Giants

Pushing Giants

Formed in central Maryland in 2012, Pushing Giants emerged from the collaboration of Devon O’Hara, Matt Griffen, and M. Shane. Known for their raw, blues-infused rock sound, the band quickly became a fixture in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. live music scenes.

In 2014, they independently recorded and released their debut EP, “Pushing Giants.” With the addition of bassist Theo Kavouras, the band expanded their sound and released their first full-length album, “Automatic Mathmagician,” in 2016.

“Automatic Mathmagician” pushed the boundaries of hard blues rock, incorporating an eclectic mix of samples, synthesizers, V8 engines, and other unconventional studio techniques. In a genre known recycling the same sounds for six solid decades at this point, this album stood out as a refreshingly original work, free from artistic pretension.

Pushing Giants has been on hiatus since 2017.
